20th February 2023
In this article, we will be looking at what book writing are its types, book writing and you, who should be a book writer, and the importance of book writing. I use the term, “Book writing,” with a good purpose. The reason behind the phrase is that you can write a son, a computer program, or something else. Okay, let’s get start.
What Is Book Writing?
As we have already said in the introduction section above, it takes time and effort to write a book. Writing the first book can be intimidating, but it shouldn’t be if you have some information before you get started with your writing project.
First, you might not really think of writing a book as you start. This is because the goal might be intimidating even though it shouldn’t be. Maybe you should start writing blog articles and post them for your readers? What if you get scared before you get started?
Getting scared is a different thing. Getting started is another. This is why you have resources like this article. I think when you know what it takes to write a book, you will be ready to find a way to take care of your fears and wipe your tears as you move on.

Book writing is a process, and there are difficulties and pitfalls in this process, just as there are in any process. I can say, it’s linked to a personality type to write a book because it seems not everyone can or should write a book. Does this harsh reality scare you even more now?
No, you don’t have to be a writer yourself in order to read this, do you? I think it’s also good to know something about anything you might be interested in. However, it’s always my advice to read about things you love, personally. I personally rarely read anything fictional because in most cases, I find it hard to understand most fiction works.
Besides misunderstanding fiction books, or not understanding them because of too many difficult English words in these types of books, the language is almost always too negative for me. This is absolutely something personal so to speak.
Let’s be clearer than that. There are two types of book writing: fiction and nonfiction. There are many different genres in each of these types. It’s important for you to choose a writing type, or you can choose only after trying your best in both types.
You might not know which writing type you are good at until you try it out and see by yourself. Just as it is in everything else, there are ancient as well as modern writing concepts. You might need to know something about these concepts especially if you want to become a writer. Put it simply, technology is a tool for everyone to use, including book writers. This technology has brought with it lots of opportunities.
Types of Book Writing
As mentioned above, there are two main writing types: fiction and nonfiction. There are also many other writing types within each type depending on the genre in use. Narratives, poetries, and other literary devices that come with these are other formats and types of writing.
To be a writer, you might need to know where you belong. There are also three main types of writers: pantsers, plotters, and planters. The former writers simply write before planning whiles the latter plot or outline their works before embarking onto their writing process.
To use myself again as an example, I am a nonfiction writer. This is because the article you are now reading is a self-help article, which is nonfiction in itself. However, I have also written and published a few books in Creative Nonfiction, which uses real-life stories and literary devices to make these stories look like fiction.
Again, not every reader enjoys fiction works. In the same way, not every reader enjoys nonfiction except if it’s a motivation, inspirational, or a manual on some kind of knowledge. Fiction writing seems to entertain those who are in need of some kind of entertainment.
Some of us get their true entertainment in writing, not in movies, or in public places, or in funny stories. We don’t enjoy drama because we make it too realistic when we it shouldn’t. This is more of a personality type issue, not an advice to you. However, it helps you see that you can imagine who your ideal readers will be as a writer.
Book Writing and You
Now, where are you in this business? Are you a reader? Are you a writer? Are you a published author? You know who I am when it comes to writing, at least a little bit. This section tries to help you think about yourself in relation to writing books no matter who you are. You can be a reader. You can be a writer. You can even be a published author. All is well.
If you are a reader, do you love reading fiction books? How often do you read fiction books? If you love reading nonfiction, how often do you read them? Which books would you like to recommend to your family and friends including me and my readers? Your honest answers to these questions help me know how you relate with writing. Remember, there’s no writer without readers, just as there is no business without clients or customers. You are important if you are a reader. I am both. I love writing and I also love reading books written by other authors. As I write this, I just wrote a short book review on Amazon and Goodreads on a book I just finished reading on my smartphone.
Who Should Write A Book?
Anyone can write a book, but this depends on different factors. Some factors are about the writers and other factors are about what to write. This is my faith. This is my standpoint. It’s my belief. I may be wrong, but I believe I am right about it.
If you know how to read well in any human language, you can also write in that language. Also, it matters if you know why you want to write anything. There are so many different reasons for people to write. Some people write for others and they get paid for that. This is called freelance writing.
Some people write to publish their own content, and this is where I belong. I write articles and books. I write social media content. I write to inform, instruct, and to educate. I believe my piece of writing will be helpful to someone somewhere.
However, one must know what she’s good at. I’m aware that technology is a powerful tool, and people are already misusing its power. People can create duplicate content using some kind of software in seconds and they can claim it as their unique content. This is the illegal way of using technology as a writer.
You should write your own content, no matter how bad it might be. This is my belief as well. Oh, I have so many beliefs! At least, you now have an idea about who should write a book. It’s not a rule. There is no rule about it. Remember that you might have been taught that only a professor can write a book, and you believed it for years.
I believe anyone can write a book depending on who she is, what she wants to write about, and why she’s convinced she must write it. The tools she will use in the writing and publish process are also important. This also depends on what kind of a writer she wants to be.
The Importance of Book Writing
Why is it important to write books? There are many reasons why it is very important to write a book. The importance is on the writer as well as on the reader. Think about it for a while. It’s important to read the right thing. It’s also important to write one.
For example, if you need some authentic and authoritative information on a certain topic, then you need to read a good book on that. In the same way, if you think all the books you have read about self-awareness are missing something, it’s time for you to think about writing your own. Personally, I have read, watched and listened to countless gurus and teachers of personal and professional development.
Yet, I always see a gap: messing with both sides of the coin. The two sides of the same coin are what I called Self-Discovery and Self-Improvement. These are parts of personal development. Even professional development has two sides.
It’s important for me to know what kind of a writer I am. This helps me focus and improve my writings. Focus is important as well. As you have already known by now, there are different kinds of writers. For that reason, it’s important that you pick a writing type and focus on it.
Summary
In short, we have learned a lot about book writing. Are you a reader or a writer or both? What type of writing do you love most and why? What type of writing do you hate most and why? Have you written something already? Is it an article or a book? Have you published something yet? What is it about?
What have you learned when it comes to who should write a book? I am asking because you might still believe that you can’t write a book at this moment, and you might be right. You know yourself much better than anyone else does. However, it’s also true that anyone can write a book depending on many other factors as described in this article.
